The Mary Persons Bulldogs hosted Spalding in a region rematch and won 10-0 in five innings. Brady Christman got the scoring started with a solo jack in the last of the first and the Black, Gold, and White would plate five more runs in inning one via a two-rbi single, an rbi single, a sac-groundout, and a score on a passed ball to make the score 6-0 Bulldogs going into inning two.
Through the next four innings, the host plated four more runs while keeping the Jaguars off the board to pick up the region shutout victory. Nic Arnold led MP in rbis with three followed by Cole Carr with two. SP Ayden Horne pitched for four innings.. surrendering no runs on one hit, walking one, and striking out eight while reliever Shivan Patel relief-pitched inning five and surrendered no runs on no hits, walking none, and striking out none.
The Black, Gold, and White have won five of their last six games and currently sit at 9-13 overall; 6-6 in region play and are playing Fayette Co in a region doubleheader tomorrow.
Elsewhere; Jones Co made the trip to Henry Co to rematch the McDonough Warhawks in a region battle and the Purple, Gold, and White demolished the host 25-3 in four innings. Jonathan Scarbury and Caleb Sark led the Greyhounds in rbis with three a piece as they were two of twelve Jones Co players to record an rbi in the contest. The visitors plated eight in the first, nine in the second, none in the third, and eight in the fourth.
Greyhounds’ pitchers’ Trent Paulk and Kaylob Harris combined to allow three runs (one earned) on two hits, walking none, and striking out eight in the process. The Purple, Gold, and White improve to 18-5 overall; 12-4 in region play and will jump out of region play at home next Wednesday against Luella.
