Demonettes blow out Eagle’s Landing; Demons rally in the fourth to down the Golden Eagles

The Warner Robins basketball teams hosted the Eagle’s Landing Golden Eagles earlier tonight and the result was a Demons sweep.

The girls game was all Warner Robins as they would lead 17-11 after the first quarter and would outscore the Lady Golden Eagles 18-4 in the second to lead 35-15 at halftime. The Demonettes led by 32 in the third quarter but the visitors were able to cut the gap under 30 by the end of the third quarter and Warner Robins led 53-27 going into the fourth which prevented a six minute fourth quarter.

The final frame was the closest contested frame as the host outscored Eagle’s Landing 22-17 to win 75-44. Korveanna Slaughter led Warner Robins in scoring with 15 pts followed by Chyanne Phillips with 14 pts (12 in the fourth quarter), Trintee Thomas with 12 pts, and Naveah Mack with 10 pts.

The Lady Golden Eagles were led in scoring by both Samiyah Ford and Jordan Green with 11 pts each. The Demonettes improve to 13-3 overall; 6-2 in region play while Eagle’s Landing falls to 9-9 overall; 3-4 in region play.

The boys game would be relatively tight throughout as the Golden Eagles would maintain the lead for most of the night until near the midway point of the fourth quarter. Warner Robins led 2-0 and 5-2 early in the contest before Eagle’s Landing got the lead and would lead 21-15 after the first quarter.

The Demons trailed by 8 pts in the second before rallying to tie the game until the visitors pulled back away a little and the halftime score was 33-29 Golden Eagles. The third quarter saw Eagle’s Landing pull out to a 10 pt lead prior to Warner Robins cutting the gap in half and then the visitors would lead by 10 again 49-39 late in the third quarter and the score was 49-41 Eagle’s Landing going into the fourth quarter.

The host would flip the game in the fourth quarter as they would ultimately tie the game at 51 until Warner Robins’ Cam Perkins hit a go-ahead National Exterminating three pt field goal from the top of the key to give the Demons a 54-51 lead and Warner Robins extended the lead to seven as they went on a 17-2 run.

The visitors cut the gap back down to three but that as close as they would get the rest of the night as the Demons would keep them at bay and win 62-57 to pickup a huge region victory over a team that won the state title in 2022 and were the runner-up last season. Warner Robins would outscore the Golden Eagles 23-8 after trailing by 10 and 21-8 in the fourth quarter.

Cam Perkins led Warner Robins in scoring with 19 pts followed by Gabe Jacobs with 15 pts, and Isaiah Gibson with 10 pts while Eagle’s Landing was led in scoring by Chris Morris with 17 pts followed by Dwight Brown with 16 pts.

The Demons improve to 11-5 overall; 5-3 in region play while the Golden Eagles fall to 12-7 overall; 5-3 in region play. Warner Robins will be back in action tomorrow as they will host county rival Veterans in a non-region tilt while Eagle’s Landing will host Jones Co next Tuesday.
