Demonettes claim third consecutive region title

Warner Robins had one more mission in the region tournament…. win it all. That is exactly what the Demonettes did tonight as they defeated the Union Grove Lady Wolverines 56-49 to claim their third consecutive region title.

Warner Robins started much faster than they did last night by starting the game on a 8-2 run but then the Lady Wolverines would finish the first quarter on a 13-2 run to lead 15-10 after one.

The second quarter featured mistakes & tons of defense as nearly the first half of the second quarter went scoreless before the Demonettes were able to make a basket. Warner Robins outscored Union Grove 13-5 in the second to lead 23-20 at the half.

Out of the locker room, Union Grove & Warner Robins went back & forth with the Demonettes maintaining the lead. Warner Robins pushed their lead to 11 late in the third before the Lady Wolverines scored the quarter’s last three points & the Demonettes led 41-33 after three.

The fourth quarter got underway & soon enough both teams had multiple players in foul trouble. Union Grove made small gains in the deficit they were in but never got closer than six The Demonettes would not be denied despite despite being outscored by the Lady Wolverines 16-15 in the fourth, Warner Robins won 56-49 to claim the region championship.

The Demonettes snapped Union Grove’s 19-game winning streak & improved to 24-3 overall headed into the AAAAA State Playoffs while the Lady Wolverines fell to 21-7 overall & will be the 2-seed out of region 2-AAAAA.

Warner Robins was led in scoring by Jada Morgan with 16 pts followed by Tori Davis with 14 pts while the Lady Wolverines were led in scoring by Naden Smith with 15 pts followed by Jordan Brooks with 14 pts.
