Demons rally from 17 down late in the third to defeat Northside for the seventh straight year

The Northside Eagles and Warner Robins Demons squared off against each other at McConnell-Talbert Stadium last night which resulted in the Demons picking up their seventh consecutive win over the Eagles 39-35. The Blue, White, and Orange got the scoring started with a Da’veon Latimore 6 yd rush TD and the PAT made it 7-0 Northside late in the first.

The Cardinal, White, and Black got on the scoreboard when the snapper for the Eagles snapped the ball over the punter’s head and the ball went out of the endzone for a safety and the score was 7-2 Eagles with 8:47 remaining in the first half. Warner Robins closed the gap down to two with a Will Shepherd 30 yd FG and the score was 7-5 Northside with 4:04 left in the first half.

The Blue, White, and Orange extended their lead when Damien Dee found Briston Blasingame for a 36 yd receiving TD and the PAT made it 14-5 Eagles with 1:52 left in the first half. The Demons failed to control the ball on the ensuing kickoff and Northside recovered at the Warner Robins 9 yd line. ‘

The Eagles padded their lead when EJ Riley ran the rock in from four yds out for a TD and the PAT made it 21-5 with 1:21 left in the first half which is where our score would stand at halftime. Demons head coach Shane Sams inserted in Jones Co transfer QB Judd Anderson into the game with 1:21 left in the second.

The host received the second half kick off and with 7:30 to go in the third, Warner Robins QB Judd Anderson found Isiah Canion for a 12 yd receiving TD and the score remained 21-11 in favor of the visitors after the 2 pt try was picked off. The Blue White, and Orange answered rather quickly when QB Damien Dee ran the rock in from 54 yds out for the rush TD and the PAT made it 28-11 Eagles with 7:19 left in the third.

The Demons threw an interception and Northside had great field position once again but the host’s defense held strong and Warner Robins blocked a field goal. With :24 left in the third…. Anderson found Cam Flowers for a touchdown and the PAT made it 28-18 Eagles. On the next drive, Northside lost a fumble and gave the Cardinal, White, and Black the ball back deep in Eagles territory.

Warner Robins’ Cam Flowers threw to Isiah Canion for a 23 yd touchdown pass and the PAT made it 28-25 Eagles with :03 left in the third. The Demons would block a second Northside FG and this one would be picked up by Khaedric Edwards and returned for a 70 yd TD and the PAT made the score 32-28 in favor of the Cardinal, White, and Black with 8:32 remaining in the contest.

The Blue, White, and Orange responded when QB Damien Dee found Ricardo Jones for the 12 yd TD pass and the PAT made it 35-32 Northside with 4:45 remaining in the game. The Demons responded with an 80 yd drive capped off by a Jeremiah Jackson 8 yd rush TD and the PAT made it 39-35 Warner Robins with under 2 minutes to go.

The Demons held off Northside and were able to come away with the 39-35 victory over their longtime rival. The 74 combined points scored is a new record most in a single game in series history. Warner Robins improves to 1-1 on the season and will travel south to play Valdosta in a week whether it be at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium or somewhere else due to Valdosta being 90% out of power.

The Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season and will have a BYE next week and will return to play in two weeks when they host the North Cobb Warriors.
