The Jones Co Greyhounds hosted the Ola Mustangs in a region rematch and the final score of the contest was 11-5 in favor of the visitors. Trailing 5-1 in the last of the fourth, Greyhounds’ Kaylob Harris hit a solo jack to center to cut the gap down to 5-2 in favor of Ola. Brayden Lampkin would come to bat with two runners on and would hit a single that would turn into an inside-the-park home run on an E7 to tie the game at 5 all.
The Mustangs would keep the offense going while shutting down Jones Co defensively and they would end the game on a 6-0 run to win 11-5. Lampkin led the Purple, Gold, Black, and White in rbis with two followed by Jonathan Scarbary and Kaylob Harris with one a piece. Scarbary’s rbi was a solo jack in the last of the first. Jones Co falls to 13-5 overall; 8-4 in region play and will host Hampton on Friday.
Elsewhere; the Bleckley Co Royals traveled to Twin City, Ga to play the Emanuel Co Institute Bulldogs and they got the low-scoring 1-0 shutout victory. In the top of the third, Bleckley Co’s Walker Boatright hit a hard ground ball and reached on an E6 and advanced to second while Jaydon Johnson would score to give the visitors a 1-0 lead which would ultimately be the final score of the non-region contest.
Royals’ SP Braegan Cravey pitched a complete game surrendering no runs on two hits, walking two, and striking out 11 while throwing 105 pitches. Walker Boatright was credited with the rbi that decided the game in the first of the third. Bleckley Co improves to 12-7 overall and will return to region play on Friday when they host Northeast in a region rematch.
