HoCo, Perry girls fall at state

The Lady Panthers’ incredible year came to an end Wednesday. It was at the hands of Madison County. The No. 3 seed out of Region 8 beat Perry, the host, 3-1 in the Sweet 16 of the GHSA Class AAAA state tournament. And oh by the way, the two teams that finished ahead of the Lady Red Raiders, Jefferson and North Oconee, also advanced to the Elite Eight – a testament to the strength of that region.

The Lady Panthers finish the year 14-5-0 and a perfect 10-0-0 and champs of Region 4-AAAA.

Perry was not the only local club to fall Wednesday. Houston County got edged out by Chattahoochee, 2-1 at home in the Sweet 16 of the GHSA Class AAAAAA state tournament.

Chattahoochee came in as the No. 2 seed out of Region 7. A testament to the strength of that region is the fact all four of its teams won and moved on to the Elite Eight.

Still, the Lady Bears had another phenomenal year. They finished 16-1-1 overall, 6-0-0 and winners yet again of 1-AAAAAA.
