HoCo splits results with Wilkinson County; other results

One word to describe the Lady Bears’ performance last night… domination.

The Lady Bears defeated the Wilkinson County Lady Warriors 48-7 behind Jayla Holden’s team leading 15 points. The Lady Bears got off to a quick start and led Wilkinson County 25-0 after one, 38-2 after two, 46-5 after three, & 48-7 by game’s end.

The second half was played with six minute quarters instead of the usual eight. The Lady Bears improved to 2-2 while Wilkinson County fell to 0-2.

It was a different story for the Houston County boys team as they fell to Wilkinson County 69-52. The 1st half was neck-and-neck between the two teams as they kept each other within close proximity on the scoreboard. HoCo led Wilkinson County 15-13 after one. HoCo cut the Warrior lead down to 25-24 late in the first half but Wilkinson County was able to close the half on a 4-0 run to bring the halftime score to 29-24 Warriors.

Wilkinson County took over after the break and dominated the third quarter outscoring Houston County 23-8 and took a 52-32 lead into the fourth quarter. Houston County kept pace with Wilkinson County in the fourth outscoring the Warriors 20-17 to bring the final score to 69-52 in favor of the visitors. The Bears were led in scoring by Malachi Jackson with 15 points & the Warriors were led in scoring by Justin Stanley with 23 points.

The HoCo boys fell to 2-3 overall & Wilkinson County improved to 2-0 overall.

Elsewhere, Northside split with Dodge County as the girls fell 50-47 while the boys won 69-54. Veterans swept Northeast with a 63-54 victory for the girls & a 71-60 victory for the boys. The Warner Robins boys were victorious on the road over Locust Grove 42-32.
