Kenney’s three-run blast sparks HoCo’s shutout victory over Jones Co

The Houston County Bears opened their first road trip of the season in Gray, taking on the Jones County Greyhounds in a Central Georgia showdown — and came away with a dominant 6-0 victory. HoCo wasted no time setting the tone. The Bears erupted for four runs in the top of the first inning, jumping on Jones County early. The big blow came off the bat of Ethan Kenney, who launched a three-run homer to left field to give HoCo a commanding 4-0 lead.

After the explosive start, the game settled into a pitchers’ duel, with both staffs locking in and keeping hitters off balance. But HoCo continued to add insurance. Isaiah Galason drove in the fifth run, then capped the night in the seventh inning with his first home run of the season — a solo shot that pushed the lead to 6-0.

On the mound, the Bears were outstanding. HoCo’s pitchers combined for eight strikeouts while allowing just one hit and no runs, sealing the shutout. With the win, the Bears improves to 3-1 on the season and now turns its attention to the Woodstock Wolverines, whom they’ll host at home on Thursday.
