Lady Bears’ comeback bid falls short against Effingham Co

The HoCo Lady Bears hosted the Effingham Co Lady Rebels in the night game in the first day of the Super Regional and the result was a close 3-2 Effingham Co victory. The first three innings of the game went scoreless until the top half of the fourth.

The Lady Rebels plated three runs in the first of the fourth all with two outs on the board via a double, single, and another double. In the last of the sixth, Lady Bears’ Abbie Havard hit a two run jack to close the game down to one run going into the seventh. The Black, Silver, and White had a runner 60 feet away but were unable to tie the game as the visitors won 3-2.

HoCo’s SP Jacy Harrelson surrendered three runs (all earned) on three hits, walking four, and striking out five in six innings of work. Tess Rollins came into relieve Harrelson in the seventh and surrendered no runs on no hits, walking one, and striking out zero.

Lady Rebels’ Ansleigh Giordano pitched a complete game and surrendered two runs (both earned) on five hits, walking four, and striking out nine. Neither team committed an error tonight.

HoCo falls to 27-4 on the season and will take on Riverwood tomorrow at 3pm and a win will match up them up against Effingham Co which the Lady Bears will need to win twice along with defeating the Lady Raiders first if they want to make it to Columbus next week. If HoCo loses one game tomorrow; their season will be over.

WARNING: I get way over excited with the two run homer so beware of the volume.
