The Locust Grove Wildcats delivered a commanding performance on the road, defeating the Jones County Greyhounds 13–1 in five innings in a key early-season region matchup.
Locust Grove set the tone immediately, scoring four runs with two outs in the top of the first inning to grab early momentum. Jones County answered with a run in the bottom of the second, but it would be the Greyhounds’ only offense of the game.
The Wildcats continued to build their lead, extending it to 7–1 before breaking the game open in the fifth inning. Locust Grove erupted for six runs in the frame, highlighted by a grand slam that pushed the advantage to 13–1.
With the loss, Jones County drops to 7–4 overall and 3–2 in region play. The Greyhounds will look to rebound Friday when they travel to face the Union Grove Wolverines.
