Panthers dominate Wayne Co

The Perry Panthers hosted the Wayne Co Yellowjackets earlier this evening in a region game that was supposed to be played in Jesup last Friday but Hurricane Helene happened and the game got moved to Perry and the host dominated the game by winning 56-7. The Maroon, Gold, and White got the scoring started by blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown and the PAT made it 7-0 Panthers.

On the ensuing kickoff, the visitors muffed the kickoff and the host recovered at the two yard line and punched the rock in on a one play drive and the PAT made the score 14-0 Panthers with over nine minutes to play in quarter one. Wayne Co would rip a 60-yard touchdown run to cut the gap in half to 14-7 but that would be as close as they would get all game.

Cory Pettigrew of Perry would score on a 15-yard touchdown reception with about eight and a half minutes to play in the first half and the PAT made the score 28-7 in favor of the host. QB Cullen McDaniel would add the next Maroon, Gold, and White score with 4:49 remaining in the first half on an 11-yard touchdown scamper and the PAT made the score 35-7 Perry. The Panthers would take a 42-7 lead into halftime.

The entire second half was played with a running clock and Perry added two more scores in quarter three and would go on to win 56-7 over the Yellowjackets. Ahmad Gordon for the Maroon, Gold, and White accounted for two touchdowns earlier this evening. The Panthers improve to 5-2 overall; 2-0 in region play and will return to action on Friday October 18th at home against Ware Co in a critical region matchup.
