The Bleckley Co Royals hosted the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets in a non-region battle earlier tonight and the result was a 7-5 Jackets’ victory. The visitors plated a run in the top of the first and the Royals would tie the game on a Braegan Cravey solo jack in the last of the first. The score would read 5-3 Jeff Davis after three innings of play.
The visitors plated two runs in the top of the fifth to push it’s lead to 7-3 with one out on the board and then the game would be stopped due to lightning in the area. The game would later resume just before 8pm and in the last of the sixth, the host would plate two runs to cut the lead in half to 7-5 heading into the seventh.
The Royals would have a runner on first and second base with two outs on the board and Brady Brannon up to bat with a chance to hit a walk-off three-run jack but he would strikeout swinging to end the contest. Josh Dillard led the Purple, Gold, and White in rbis with two followed by Braegan Cravey, Walker Boatright, and Gavin Cole with one a piece.
The Royals’ two pitchers.. SP Jay Johnson and reliever Josh Dillard combined to allow seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits, walking five, and striking out four in the process. Bleckley Co falls to 14-8 overall and will return to region play at rival Dublin tomorrow evening.
Elsewhere; another purple based team was in action and that was the Jones Co Greyhounds who hosted the McDonough Warhawks and won 17-2 in three innings. The Purple, Gold, Black, and White plated 12 runs in the last of the second after leading 3-0 after one. Jones Co improves to 17-5 overall; 11-4 in region play and will travel to Henry Co to rematch McDonough on Friday Evening.
