The Warner Robins Demons will host the defending AAAAA State Champion Ware Co Gators this Friday Night in the Sweet Sixteen. This will be the fourth consecutive season these two teams will have played each other as they were both in region 1-AAAAA in 2020 and 2021. The 2020 contest was won by the Demons 22-19 in Warner Robins and the 2021 contest was won by the Gators 29-21 in Waycross.
Last season… the two met in the AAAAA State Final with Ware Co winning 38-14. This season features both teams playing in Round Two with the winner taking on the winner of Dalton-Creekside in the Elite Eight. The Cardinal, White, and Black defeated the McIntosh Chiefs in Round One last Friday 48-15 while the Green, Gold, and White shut out the Decatur Bulldogs 49-0. The Gators look to be the favorite heading into this matchup but look for a possible complete game battle on Friday.
There are other big battles that could come down to the wire on Friday Night including #9 HoCo @ #10 Woodward Academy. The Bears held off North Atlanta last Friday by winning 42-32 and the War Eagles knocked out Evans 31-14. The winner of this matchup will play the winner of Blessed Trinity-Gainesville in the Elite Eight. This contest looks to go all the way down to the wire on Friday Night in College Park.
The #7 ranked Perry Panthers will travel southwest to take on the #3 ranked Bainbridge Bearcats on Friday Night and this will likely be a heavyweight battle with an Elite Eight berth on the line. The Bearcats demolished Trinity Christian 49-14 last Saturday while the Panthers downed Burke Co 35-14. The winner will take on the winner of Luella-Stephenson in the AAAA Elite Eight. This game also will likely go down to the wire on Friday.
The #3 ranked Mary Persons Bulldogs will host Central Georgia foe… the #10 ranked Crisp Co Cougars on Friday Night. The Bulldogs defeated Long Co 35-19 last Friday while the Cougars defeated Hephzibah 45-20. The Black, Gold, and White look to be the favorite on Friday but this game could be a close one down to the end as well but only time will tell. The winner will take on the winner of Bremen-Cedar Grove in the Elite Eight.
The only game that will likely not be close on Friday will be Jones Co @ #1 ranked Coffee down in Douglas, Georgia. The Greyhounds defeated Northside (Columbus) last Friday 42-21 while the Trojans smothered and covered Chamblee 56-0. Coffee is a heavy favorite in this matchup and the winner will take on the winner of Mays-Cass in the Elite Eight.
