Warhawks dominate Northside as the rain arrives

The Veterans Warhawks hosted county rival Northside earlier this afternoon and the result was a dominant Warhawks’ victory 16-1 in four innings. The host got on the board in the last of the first when Gavin Pike scored on a passed ball to give the Red, White, and Blue a 1-0 lead going into the top of the second where the visitors would plate one run to tie the game going into the last of the second.

Veterans would plate four runs in the last of the second via a single, a bases rounding walk, and an error to lead 5-1. The Warhawks put the game to bed in the last of the third in the rain as they plated 10 runs that were scored via a bases rounding HBP, a single, a wild pitch, an error, a two rbi double, an rbi double, a single, and a two-run jack hit by JJ Howe to make the score 15-1 in favor of the host.

In the last of the fourth, Gavin Pike hit an rbi single to drive in Kason Flowers to give the Warhawks the 16-1 victory in four innings. Leading the way for Veterans in rbis were Gavin Pike, JJ Howe, Brandon Mercer, and Kason Flowers with two a piece followed by Brooks Masters and Jackson Eaton with one each and the Eagles had zero rbis.

Warhawks’ SP Gavin Pike pitched a complete game on the mound and surrendered one unearned run on two hits, walking none, and striking out seven in the process while Northside’s two pitchers JB Baker and Conner Beck combined to allow 16 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, walking five, and striking out three in the process.

Veterans improves to 9-8 overall; 3-7 in region play while the Eagles fall to 4-17 overall; 0-10 in region play and these two will meet again at the Eagle’s Nest on Friday in a region doubleheader. The Warhawks committed one error while Northside committed five errors.
