2024 Warner Robins Football Preview: Demons look to make another deep playoff push

The Warner Robins Demons’ football team is gearing up for the 2024 season which gets underway in Leesburg in under 24 hours. Last season the Demons won region but failed to make it to the state final for the first time since 2016 when they lost at home to Creekside in the Elite Eight. The Cardinal, Black, and White took some big losses last season to HoCo and Valdosta but played Lee Co tough to open 2023 on the road.

Shane Sams is beginning his second season as the head coach and will look to guide his team to another deep playoff run and potentially make their seventh state final appearance in eight seasons. The Demons will open at Lee Co for the second consecutive season which is a tough place to play at and they will open their home slate against Fayette Co the following Friday.

Warner Robins will wrap up August with longtime rival Northside who the Demons are looking to win their eighth consecutive game against on Week 3, that will be followed by a road game to county rival Houston Co and a home game against county rival Veterans to wrap up non-region play.

The region Warner Robins is in will be tougher than the previous two seasons as they will play these teams in this order, home against Wayne Co, home against Benedictine, at New Hampstead, at Ware Co, and home against county rival Perry. The Demons’ matchup against the Panthers will be their first battle in football in 59 years. The last time these two played each other, McConnell-Talbert Stadium was not built yet.

The Cardinal, White, and Black have some promise for another deep push but they will take the season one game at a time.
