The Houston County Bears wasted no time asserting control Friday night at McConnell-Talbert Stadium, steamrolling Northside in a commanding 48–0 victory.
On the opening kickoff, Jordan Smith got things started fast with an 85-yard return for a touchdown, setting the tone for the night.
The Bears’ ground game continued to punished throughout the first quarter. Javien Durham powered in from four yards out, and Colin Anderson added a nine-yard touchdown run to give the Bears a 21–0 lead after the first quarter.
The aerial attack took over in the second quarter as quarterback Ryan Maxwell connected twice with MJ Mathis—first on a 29-yard strike, then again from 18 yards out—stretching the lead to 35–0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Bears kept their foot on the gas. Austin Stinson broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run, and Anderson capped the contest scoring with a 36-yard sprint to the end zone, sealing the 48–0 shutout victory.H
HoCo remains perfect on the season, while Northside continues the rebuilding process but drops to 0-7 this year.
In other central Georgia scores, Bleckley County picked up a key region win 14-13 over Northeast, Warner Robins was dominated by highly ranked powerhouse Benedictine (61-0). Jones County edged out McDonough in a come from behind overtime effort 27-24. Mary Persons was a winner at home 42-20 over Trinity Christian and Perry won it’s road region game against Wayne County 38-0.
