Nauss’ clutch double lifts HoCo past Woodstock in 3-0 pitcher’s duel

In a matchup between two 5A teams, HoCo squared off against Woodstock in a low-scoring pitcher’s duel.

HoCo struck first in the bottom of the first inning, pushing across a run to take an early 1-0 lead. However, both teams’ pitchers settled in, and neither lineup could generate much offense over the next several innings.

The score remained 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, two outs on the board, and a full 3-2 count, Peyton Nauss delivered the game’s biggest moment — ripping a two-RBI double deep to left field. The clutch hit extended HoCo’s lead to 3-0 and provided crucial insurance runs.

From there, HoCo’s pitching staff took care of the rest, shutting down Woodstock to secure another shutout victory this week.

HoCo improves to 4-1 on the season with the 3-0 win and now turns its attention to a key county rivalry matchup against Perry tomorrow evening at the Garden.
