Veterans rallies from seven down late to stun Perry

The Veterans Warhawks hosted county rival Perry in a rematch of their season opener on Monday, February 9.

Perry came out strong, breaking things open in the top of the third inning with four runs. The Panthers continued to build their lead and were up 7–0 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

That’s when the Warhawks mounted a ferocious rally.

Veterans plated six runs in the sixth inning, cutting the deficit to 7–6 and completely shifting the momentum. Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning with the game tied and a runner on third, a passed ball allowed Bentley Haines to race home with the walk-off run, sealing a dramatic 8–7 victory.

The win splits the regular-season series with county rival Perry and marks Veterans’ biggest victory of the season so far.

Veterans will travel to face county rival Warner Robins in a rematch Monday evening.

Perry returns to action today at the Garden against Houston County.
