Demonettes’ season comes to a heartbreaking end

In a hard-fought GHSA 4A Sweet 16 matchup, the Warner Robins Demonettes saw their season come to an end with a 48-40 loss to the Cartersville Lady Hurricanes at Weatherspoon Gymnasium.

Warner Robins started strong, holding a 15-10 lead after the first quarter in what was a tightly contested opening period. Both teams battled defensively in the second quarter, but the Demonettes went cold offensively. Cartersville capitalized just enough to take a slim 23-21 advantage into halftime.

The Demonettes briefly tied the game at 23 early in the third quarter, but that’s when momentum shifted decisively. The Lady Hurricanes erupted on a 10-0 run and steadily built their lead, stretching it to 40-26 by the end of the third.

Despite trailing by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter, Warner Robins refused to fold. The Demonettes mounted a late rally, cutting the deficit to six in the final minute. However, inconsistent shooting down the stretch prevented them from completing the comeback.

With the win, Cartersville advances to the Elite Eight, where they will host Northview.

Warner Robins concludes an impressive season at 23-4 overall and as region champions.
