Demonettes overcome slow start to win region title

The Warner Robins Demonettes hosted Wayne Co in the Region 1-AAAA Championship Game earlier tonight and the result was a dominate Cardinal, Black, and White victory 60-30 after a slow start. The first quarter was a struggle for the host as they would trail the Lady Jackets 9-2 with under two minutes left in the first quarter before finally making a field goal and trailing 9-7 at the start of quarter two.

Kennedy Bradshaw opened the second quarter with a National Exterminating three to give Warner Robins a 10-9 lead.. a lead they would hold on to the rest of the way. After trailing by seven, Warner Robins went on a 10-0 run that transformed into a 17-2 run to lead 19-11. The host would lead 28-14 at halftime and 43-22 after three.

The Cardinal, Black, and White would not be denied as they would close out Wayne Co to win 60-30 to win the region title after losing it to Ware Co last season which was also their first loss of that season as well. Kennedy Bradshaw led the Demonettes in scoring with 27 points (five made National Exterminating threes) followed by Laila Howard-Haney with 11 points while the Lady Yellowjackets were led in scoring by Mimi Everett with 15 points.

Warner Robins improves to 22-3 on the season and finishes region play a perfect 8-0 and winning all region games by at least 17 points. The Demonettes will be the #1 seed in the AAAA Playoffs that begin either February 24th or 25th while Wayne Co will be the #2 seed.
