Bulldogs and Panthers cruise, Eagles and Warhawks fall

The Mary Persons Bulldogs traveled west to play the Columbus Blue Devils last night and the final result was a 55-0 Bulldogs shutout victory. The score was 52-0 at halftime. Mary Persons improves to 4-1 on the season and will return home next Friday to host the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines.

The Blue Devils fall to 1-4 on the season and will open region play next Friday against rival Carver (Columbus).

The Perry Panthers traveled to Bibb Co to take on the Howard Huskies in their region opener and the result was a Panthers shutout victory 41-0. Perry improves to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in region play and will return to Bibb Co next Friday to take on the Westside (Macon) Seminoles while Howard falls to 3-2 overall, 0-1 in region play and will travel to Milledgeville to take on the Baldwin Braves next Friday.

The Northside Eagles traveled south to play the Crisp Co Cougars which resulted in a surprising Cougars victory 20-16. Late in the game, the Eagles led 16-12 and picked off Crisp Co at the one yd line and got trapped in their own endzone on the ensuing offensive drive that resulted in a Cougar safety to cut the lead down to 16-14.

The host got the ball back and had a short field to work with and they were able to get a go-ahead TD with 42 seconds remaining and led 20 to 16 and the Cougars were able to hold defensively to defeat Northside. Crisp Co improves to 3-2 on the season and will host the Dougherty Trojans next Friday to open region play.

The Eagles fall to 2-3 on the season and will travel to Tifton to play the Tift Co Blue Devils at Brodie Field next Friday to open region play.

The Veterans Warhawks hosted the Northgate Vikings at Freedom Field which was the Warhawks’ homecoming game and the final result was a 35-14 Vikings victory. The score was 14-7 Northgate at the half and the Vikings pulled away from the host in the second half to pick up the 35-14 road victory to spoil the Warhawks’ homecoming.

Northgate improves to 4-2 on the season and will have a BYE next week before opening region play at McIntosh on Friday October 6th while the Warhawks fall to 3-2 on the season and will host the Thomas Co Central Yellow Jackets at Herb St. John Stadium next Friday to open region play.
