Bulldogs open 2025 with shutout victory

The Mary Persons Bulldogs opened 2025 down at The Garden in Houston County earlier this afternoon against the Alexander Cougars and got a 3-0 shutout victory. The Black, Gold, and White got the scoring started in the top half of inning two when Caden Taylor hit an rbi single to drive in Nick Howard to make the score 1-0 Bulldogs and that would be the score through six innings of play.

MP plated the two runs in the top of the seventh via a Cole Carr rbi single and a Wiley Smith rbi single to push it’s lead to 3-0 going into the last of the seventh. The Bulldogs closed out Alexander to preserve the shutout to win 3-0. Caden Taylor, Cole Carr, and Wiley Smith were responsible for Mary Persons’ 3 rbis in the contest.

MP SP Cole Carr surrendered no runs on no hits, walking one, and striking out eight in four innings of work while reliever Andrew Snow surrendered no runs on one hit, walking two, and striking out four in three innings of relief work. The Cougars’ three pitchers combined to surrender three earned runs on nine hits, walking three, and striking out four in the process.

The Bulldogs will take on North Oconee tomorrow afternoon at 3pm followed by Central Ga foe HoCo at 5:30pm while Alexander plays North Oconee tomorrow morning at 10am followed by HoCo at 12:30pm.
