The Mary Persons Bulldogs made the trip to Griffin to take on the Spalding Jaguars and the Black, Gold, and White handled business by winning 15-0 in five innings. Cole Carr led the Bulldogs in rbis with five and four of them coming from a grand slam that he hit in the top of the second to give the visitors a 7-0 lead. Catcher Tristan Hunt had a strong offensive evening with three rbis in the contest.
MP SP Gavin Mitchell pitched a complete game.. surrendering no runs on three hits, walking none, and striking out five in the process. The Black, Gold, and White improve to 8-13 overall; 5-6 in region play and will rematch the Jaguars at home tomorrow evening.
Bleckley Co was in action for the third consecutive day as they rematched rival Dublin over in Laurens Co and fell 7-5 for the second consecutive day after the Fighting Irish plated four runs in the last of the fourth which would prove to be the difference in the contest. The Royals had two runners on with two outs on the board in the first of the seventh and Austin Yourn would strikeout looking to end the game as the ending looked almost the exact same as yesterday evening.
Braegan Cravey led Bleckley Co in rbis with three that included a two-run jack in the top of the fifth. The Purple, Gold, and White fall to 14-9 overall; 12-2 in region play and will host ACE Charter next Tuesday Evening.
The HoCo Bears made the trip to Cartersville for the Battle for Bartow at the LakePoint Tournament and their first opponent was the Stony Brook Prep Bears out of New York and the result was a 5-2 Stony Brook victory. Birthday boy Isaiah Galason gave the Black, Silver, and White a 1-0 lead in the last of the first via an rbi double that drove in Kendall Jackson.
Vick Gann kept his hot hand going with a solo jack to tie the game in the last of the third at two a piece and that would be the last run that HoCo would score as the Bears out of New York would plate three runs in the top of the fourth and that would be the final score of the contest.
The Bears out of Georgia outhit Stony Brook 8-7 but only had two runs to show for it as they stranded multiple base runners throughout the contest. SP Will Allen only went two innings in the contest and surrendered no runs on no hits, walking two, and striking out one. Reliever Tyson Ganas pitched the next 3 2/3rds innings and he surrendered five runs (four earned) on six hits, walking two, and striking out one.
Weston Ard pitched the remaining 1 1/3rd innings and he surrendered no runs on one hit, walking one and striking out three. The HoCo Bears fall to 18-5 overall and will play a doubleheader tomorrow starting with the top ranked team in Georgia and the #4 ranked team nationally.. the Etowah Eagles followed by the East Coweta Indians.
