Greyhounds run away from Stockbridge behind explosive sixth inning

The Jones Co Greyhounds made the trip to Eastern Henry Co to take on the Stockbridge Tigers in a region rematch and the result was a Purple, Gold, Black, and White victory 17-1 in six innings. The visitors led 4-1 through five innings of play and the top of the sixth is where Jones Co put the game to bed as they would plate a staggering 13 runs in the top of the sixth.

The Greyhounds would plate these runs via a sac-play into fielder’s choice, two bases rounding walks, a two-rbi single, another bases rounding walk, back-to-back two rbi singles, two scores on two wild pitches, and an rbi single to push Jones Co’s lead to 17-1 going into the last of the sixth. The visitors would polish of the Tigers to pick up the 17-1 victory to split the region series.

Breydon Lampkin led the Greyhounds in rbis with three followed by Kaylob Harris, MJ Lane, and Landon Pettigrew with two a piece, and Davis Upshaw, Trent Paulk, and Junior Holloway with one a piece. Jones Co’s SP Trent Paulk pitched a complete game surrendering one unearned run on one hit, walking one, and striking out seven in the process.

The Purple, Gold, Black, and White improve to 13-3 overall; 8-2 in region play and will travel to play Ola in a region contest next Monday Evening.
