HoCo wraps up regular season at 23-7 after win over Ola

The Houston County Bears baseball team hosted the Ola Mustangs in a heavyweight rematch of Tuesday Night’s contest and the result was a Bears’ victory 4-2 to complete the regular season and it was also senior night as well. The Mustangs plated the game’s first two runs in the top half of the second to lead 2-0 after 2 1/2 innings of play.

The Black, Silver, and White got on the board in the last of the third when senior Eli Stephens hit a sac fly to center to drive in Isaiah Galason to make the score 2-1 Ola going into inning four and in the last of the fourth, HoCo would plate three runs starting with Isaiah Galson’s game-tying rbi single to drive in senior Camden Cunningham and Vick Gann nearly hit a homer to right but the ball fell just short for an rbi single to drive in Ethan Buffone to make the score 3-2 in favor of the host.

Senior Christian Wahiwe would score on a wild pitch to make the score 4-2 Bears going into inning five and that would ultimately be the final score of the contest. Vick Gann, Eli Stephens, and Isaiah Galason were responsible for HoCo’s three rbis while Aidan Harris and AJ Posada were responsible for Ola’ two rbis in the contest.

The Black, Silver, and White used four senior pitchers, Landon Tankersley, JT Withers, Isaac Velez, and Carson Small. SP Landon Tankersley pitched four innings and surrendered two runs (one earned) on six hits, walking two, and striking out one. JT Withers relief pitched inning five and he surrendered no runs on one hit, walking none, and striking out one in the process. Isaac Velez pitched 2/3rds of inning six and he surrendered no runs on two hits, walking none, and striking out one.

Carson Small pitched the remaining 1 1/3rd innings of the game and he surrendered no runs on one hit, walking none, and striking out none in the process. Ola’s two pitchers, Dayton Bruce and Ellis George combined to allow four runs on eight hits, walking three, and striking out one in the process. The Black, Silver, and White will prep for the AAAAAA Playoffs next week where they will host either North Atlanta or Dunwoody in a DH next Thursday.
