Panthers down West Laurens, Bulldogs capture region crown; other results

The Perry Panthers hosted the West Laurens Raiders in a rematch of Monday’s wild and emotional game in Dexter and this time the Maroon, Gold, and White would win 11-4 to split the season series and finish region play at 10-2 which will give them the two-seed going into the AAAA Playoffs next week. Nate O’Rear and Colter Ginn led the Panthers in rbis with two a piece.

The Panthers will host county rival Veterans to finish off the regular season tomorrow while West Laurens will play Central GA foe Mary Persons on Friday.

Elsewhere, the Mary Persons Bulldogs played at rival Jackson in a region doubleheader earlier today and won game one 6-0 to capture the region title and took game two 9-5 to sweep the Backyard Brawl in baseball for 2024 to finish the region at 10-2. Brady Christman hit a two run jack in game one of the DH and Ryan Causey hit a three run jack in game two.

Veterans hosted Central Georgia foe Peach Co and fell 3-2 to fall to 12-13 overall.

On Tuesday, Northside hosted Howard in their final game of the season and won 11-1 in six innings to end 2024 at 5-22 overall and snapped a 17-game losing skid and Warner Robins returned to action at Jones Co and lost 8-0 to the Greyhounds and these two will meet at Warner Robins for the region doubleheader on Friday and these two games will be the last two games ever played at the current Demons’ Diamond.
