Greyhounds dominate Locust Grove to clinch Playoff spot

The Jones Co Greyhounds made the trip to Henry County to play the Locust Grove Wildcats in a region battle and the result was a dominate Greyhounds’ victory 48-13. The visitors got the scoring started early when Zaccari Thomas scored on a 2-yard scamper and the PAT made the score 7-0 Greyhounds with 10:36 remaining in quarter one.

Jones Co QB Devon Edmonds found Jaivon Solomon on a 36-yard touchdown strike and the PAT made the score 14-0 in favor of the Purple, Gold, and White with 9:15 remaining in the first quarter. In quarter two, Edmonds found Zaccari Thomas on a 55-yard touchdown strike and the PAT made the score 28-6 in favor of Jones Co and the visitors would take a 34-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Greyhounds would go on to win 48-13 to secure a Playoff spot and the offensive player of the game for the Purple, Gold, and White would be Zaccari Thomas who would score three rushing touchdowns and one touchdown reception for a total of four touchdowns and 160 all-purpose yards. The defensive player of the game for Jones Co was Jacob Skinner who recorded three sacks in the contest.

The Greyhounds finish the regular season at 8-2 overall; 7-2 in region play and look to be the 3-seed out of region 2-AAAA going into the Playoffs in two weeks.
