The Warner Robins Demons hosted county rival Perry earlier tonight as these two faced-off for the first time in 59 years and this game would not disappoint as it would be close from start to finish and the result was a Demons’ victory 27-24. Before the game began, Warner Robins clinched a Playoff berth when New Hampstead lost to Benedictine 44-22 on Thursday Night.
The Maroon, Gold, and White got the scoring started when Corrion Daniels scored on a 40-yard touchdown scamper and the PAT made the score 7-0 Panthers with 11:00 to play in quarter one. Trailing 10-3 late in the first half, the Cardinal, Black, and White would find the end zone when Skyler Williams ran the rock in from 3 yards out and the PAT tied the game at 10 a piece with :11 remaining in the first half and that would be the halftime score.
Both teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter and the game would be tied at 17 all going into the final quarter of play. Perry retook the lead with 6:50 remaining when Cullen McDaniel found Kory Pettigrew on a 16-yard touchdown throw and the PAT made the score 24-17 in favor of the visitors.
The host would respond when Skyler Williams found Rasean Dinkins on a 14-yard touchdown strike and the PAT would tie the game at 24 all with 5:00 remaining in the contest. The Demons were able to get a stop and would be able to drive down the field to set up a potential game-winning field goal with 4 seconds remaining and Jbez Htoo made the 34-yard field goal with :00.4 remaining to give Warner Robins a 27-24 lead and that would be the final score of the contest.
The Demons finish the 2024 regular season at 7-3 overall; 3-2 in region play and will be the four-seed out of region 1-AAAA in the Playoffs while Perry finishes the regular season at 7-3 overall; 4-1 in region play and will be the one-seed out of region 1-AAAA going into the Playoffs in two weeks.
