The HoCo Bears traveled to play county and region rival Northside today in a doubleheader and the result was a Black, Silver, and White sweep 15-0 in four in Game One and 15-1 in Game Two. The Bears came out on fire in the late afternoon game as they plated five runs in the first, four in the second and third innings, and two in the fourth.
Isaiah Galason had another strong performance as he would account for five rbis in Game One with the highlight being a three-run jack hit to left center in the top of the third. HoCo pitchers’ Will Allen and Tyson Ganas both pitched for two innings in Game One and they combined for no runs allowed on one hit, walking none, and striking out nine in the process.
The nightcap saw the Black, Silver, and White jump on the Eagles again by plating five runs in inning one for the second consecutive game and would plate one run in the top half of inning two to lead 6-0. The Blue, White, and Orange plated a run in the last of the second when Keisen Williams was walked and ran in Joziah Hicks to cut the gap down to 6-1.
HoCo went cold in inning’s three and four by plating no runs but would end the game on a 9-0 run the rest of the way to win 15-1 to clean sweep the series over Northside. Ethan Buffone recorded a combined seven rbis in the doubleheader with six coming in Game Two. HoCo’s three pitchers in the nightcap, Max Willhide, Weston Ard, and Ethan Buffone combined to allow one earned run on three hits, walking three, and striking out 12 in the process.
The Bears improve to 10-3 overall; 3-0 in region play and will travel to take on county rival Veterans next Tuesday while the Eagles fall to 3-7 overall; 0-3 in region play and will travel to Leesburg to take on Lee Co next Tuesday. Northside has lost it’s last seven games.
