Perry powers past Benedictine late for first region win of 2025

The Perry Panthers hosted the Benedictine Cadets earlier tonight and the result was a Maroon, Gold, and White victory 12-4 behind a massive sixth inning. The visitors got the scoring started in the top of the third to lead 1-0 before Perry plated two runs in the last of the third to take a 2-1 lead.

The Cadets would go on a 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead which would be the score through 5 1/2 innings of play. The Maroon, Gold, and White would turn the screws entirely on Benedictine in the last of the sixth by plating 10 runs via a Janoris Reeves two-run jack, a Seth Harper rbi triple, a Brooks Stella rbi double, a Kam Vandersee rbi single, a Jackson Thompson rbi double, a Janoris Reeves two-rbi double, a Reid Ginn rbi single, and a Seth Harper rbi single to give the host a 12-4 lead after six.

Perry was able to close out the game in the top half of the seventh to preserve the 12-4 region victory over the Cadets. Janoris Reeves led the Panthers in rbis with four followed by Bryson Register and Seth Harper with two a piece, and Kam Vandersee, Jackson Thompson, Reid Ginn, and Brooks Stella with one a piece.

Perry SP Connor Langdon went six innings surrendering four runs (three earned) on three hits, walking three, and striking out eight while reliever Walker Bland pitched the seventh inning and surrendered no runs on two hits, walking one, and striking out one. The Maroon, Gold, and White improve to 4-10 overall; 1-6 in region play and will travel to take on Benedictine in Savannah on Friday for a region doubleheader.
