Eagles stun Lee Co to snap massive region losing skid

The Northside Eagles baseball team delivered a historic victory at home on Tuesday, defeating the Lee County Trojans 4–3 in a region showdown and ending a long drought in region play.

Lee County struck quickly in the top of the first inning, plating three runs to jump out to an early 3–0 lead. Northside responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 3–2.

The Eagles continued to build momentum in the third inning. Northside pushed across two more runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 4–3 lead, their first advantage of the game.

From there, both teams settled into a defensive battle. Pitching and defense dominated the remainder of the contest, with neither side able to add another run. Northside held firm down the stretch to secure the narrow victory.

The win marks Northside’s first region victory of the season and their first since April 18, 2019, when the Eagles defeated Coffee 5–4 in the second game of a home doubleheader. With the result, Northside also snaps a staggering 66-game region losing streak.

The Eagles will face Lee County again on Friday when they travel to Leesburg for a region doubleheader against the Trojans.
