Wayne Co dominates Warner Robins in region clash

Due to poor field conditions at Warner Robins caused by heavy rain, Monday’s Region 1-AAAA matchup was relocated to Northside High School. Despite the change in venue, it was all Wayne County from the start.

The Yellow Jackets wasted no time jumping ahead, launching a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. They followed that with a massive second inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and favorable bounces to score nine runs and take an early 11–0 lead.

Wayne County continued to pour it on, extending the lead to 13–0 by the fourth inning.

Warner Robins managed to break through in the bottom of the fourth when Ivan Lopez delivered an RBI single to bring home a run and cut the deficit to 13–1. However, that would be the only offense for the Demons, as the game ended shortly after in a five-inning run-rule decision.

With the loss, Warner Robins drops to 8–12 overall and falls further behind in region play. The Demons will look to bounce back as they travel to Jesup on Thursday for a doubleheader rematch against Wayne County.
