The HoCo Bears hosted the Hillgrove Hawks earlier this afternoon and got the victory 6-1 to remain undefeated on the young season. Scoring was slow for the host as they plated only two runs through the first four innings of play and those came via a Raymond Byrd rbi single and an Isaiah Galason rbi single.
The Black, Silver, and White widened it’s lead by plating three runs in the last of the fifth that came from a Logan Elbe score on a wild pitch, a Kendall Jackson rbi single, and an Isaiah Galason rbi after grounding into fielder’s choice to make the score 5-0 HoCo going into the sixth inning.
The host would plate one more run in inning six which came from a Noah Odom score on an E2 to make the score 6-0 Bears. The Hawks plated a run in inning seven and would have the bases loaded with one out but failed to plate a run as HoCo got out of the jam to win 6-1. Isaiah Galason led the Bears in rbis with two followed by by Kendall Jackson and Raymond Byrd with one a piece.
The Bears’ five pitchers.. Raymond Byrd, Weston Ard, Ethan Buffone, Vick Gann, and Ethan Kenney combined to surrender one earned run on one hit, walking four, and striking out 12 in the process while Hillgrove’s pitchers combined to allow six runs (four earned) on nine hits, walking six, and striking out eight in the process. The Bears improve to 4-0 on the season and will host Oconee Co in a doubleheader Saturday Afternoon.
