Bears turn attention to capturing fifth consecutive region title after LakePoint

The Houston County Bears’ baseball team has returned home from the LakePoint Tournament in North Georgia where they won two out of three games to get them ready for the backend of the regular season which includes a critical region set against Lee Co that will determine if the Black, Silver, and White will win region or not.

HoCo played against three strong teams in the LakePoint Tournament that started with the Houston Mustangs out of Germantown, TN which is a team that can rack up the hits and runs and they did so against the Bears by winning 17-2 in six innings, next up was a top 50 nationally ranked matchup between the HoCo Bears and the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes and the Black, Silver, and White got a huge program victory 2-1.

The final opponent the Bears faced was the Locust Grove Wildcats and HoCo took care of business by racking up the hits and runs to win 11-1 in a complete game which was HoCo’s largest victory in three weeks at the time. Now, the Black, Silver, and White turn it’s attention to their fifth and final region series as they take on the Lee Co Trojans.

As it stands currently, HoCo and Tift Co are both 10-2 in region play with the Bears owning the tiebreaker by taking the region series two out of three. The most likely scenario for HoCo to win the region title will be to sweep Lee Co as Tift plays Veterans and is a hefty favorite in that series. The Black, Silver, and White will host Lee Co tomorrow at 6pm which is where their attention is right now with a chance to draw closer to the region crown.
