Bulldogs blast East Coweta, Perry falls to Baldwin, Greyhounds swept by Union Grove

The Mary Persons Bulldogs traveled to Coweta County to take on the East Coweta Indians and the result was a 12-1 Bulldogs’ victory in five innings. Mary Persons plated zero runs in the first, four in the second, two in the third, none in the fourth, and six in the fifth while the host plated a run in the bottom half of the third inning.

The highlights of this contest is when Nic Arnold hit a solo jack in the top of the fifth followed by Ryan Causey hitting a three run jack in the same half inning and later Gavin Barr hitting a two run jack. The Gold, Black, and White were led in rbis by Ryan Causey with three followed by Tristan Hunt and Gavin Barr with two, Brady Christman, Nic Arnold, Lake Evans, and Ian Lewis with one each.

Evan Doss had the Indians’ lone rbi of the contest. MP’s pitchers combined to allow one run (earned) on two hits, walking two, and striking out eight while East Coweta’s pitchers combined to allow 12 runs (11 earned), on 12 hits, walking four, and striking out five in the process.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-4 on the season and is scheduled to travel to Houston Co tomorrow to take on Central GA foe Veterans but that is weather permitting at this time and the Indians fall to 7-4 overall and is scheduled to take on Pike Co on the road tomorrow and that is also weather permitting at this time.

Elsewhere, the Perry Panthers played for the third day in a row as they took on the Baldwin Braves on the road and fell 7-5 to the Braves. The Panthers got in a hole early and any time they scored, Baldwin answered and Perry could not plate enough runs as they would suffer their first region loss of 2024.

Perry falls to 8-2 overall; 1-1 in region play and will prep to play Spalding in Griffin next Tuesday in a region tilt while Baldwin improves to 4-5 overall; 1-1 in region play and will take on Westside (Macon) at home next Tuesday in a region tilt.

The Jones Co Greyhounds just finished game two of their doubleheader against the Union Grove Wolverines and the Purple, Gold, and White lost both games 14-4 and 9-6.

The Greyhounds had the bases loaded in the last of the seventh in game two but could not hit the walk-off grand slam and they fall to 1-6 overall; 0-3 in region play and will host Eagle’s Landing next Tuesday while the Wolverines improve to 7-0 overall; 3-0 in region play and will take on Mary Persons on the road next Monday.
