Yesterday, Mary Persons opened their season at home against Jones Co and got a 7-1 victory to open 2024 at 1-0 overall. The Greyhounds struck first in the top half of the first to lead 1-0 before the host plated a run in the second and took the lead for good in the third by plating two more runs to lead 3-1 and the score would remain that way through 5 1/2 innings of play.
Mary Persons blew the game open in the last of the sixth by plating four runs to lead 7-1 and that would be the final score. Jones Co opens 2024 at 0-1 and they will host the Bulldogs on Friday while MP will host West Laurens in a DH tomorrow after their Monday game was rained out.
The Veterans Warhawks traveled to Cochran to play the Bleckley Co Royals and the visitors took care of business by winning 16-5. The Warhawks open 2024 at 1-0 while the Royals open 2024 at 0-1 and will take on River Ridge on Friday in the Battle at the Beach Tournament while Veterans will take on West Laurens in their home opener on Friday. No score has been reported on the Northside @ Westside (Macon) ballgame at this time.
