Jones Co dominates Bainbridge twice, MP gets huge split to take region series over Pike Co

The Jones Co Greyhounds hosted the Bainbridge Bearcats in a non-region doubleheader and the result was a Greyhounds’ sweep 14-4 in six and 13-4 in game two. The Purple, Gold, and White were down 4-2 in game one and ended it on a 12-0 run. Davis Upshaw led Jones Co in rbis with four followed by Brayden Lampkin with three.

In Game Two, the Greyhounds plated five in the second and four in the fifth which would prove to be the difference as the game would have been tied at 4 a piece. Davis Upshaw racked up four more rbis in Game Two for the Purple, Gold, and White followed by Noah Robinson with three. Upshaw combined for eight rbis in the doubleheader.

Jones Co improves to 10-11 overall and will host Central Georgia foe Veterans tomorrow afternoon at 1pm while Bainbridge falls to 7-10 overall and will return home to host longtime foe Cairo in a region tilt on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, the Mary Persons Bulldogs made the short trip to Zebulon to play the Pike Co Pirates in a massive region doubleheader and the result was a split with the Pirates walking off the afternoon game 12-11 and the Bulldogs holding off the host to take the nightcap game 3-2 to win the region series 2-1.

Two Pike Co players hit a jack while MP’s Ryan Causey hit a jack in Game One which was an insane game as the Pirates jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the visitors plated the next six runs and then Pike went on another 5-0 run to lead 10-6 and then a 5-0 run by the Bulldogs before the Pirates plated the last two runs to win 12-11.

Game Two of the doubleheader would be a much lower scoring contest as the first 3 1/2 innings went scoreless before the host plated two runs on a single in the last of the fourth before MP plated a run in the first of the fifth to trail 2-1 and then Brady Christman hit a go-ahead two run jack to put the visitors up 3-2 in the same frame and that would be the final score of the contest as the Bulldogs held off the Pirates to take the series.

Mary Persons currently sits at 11-9 overall; 5-1 in region play and will prep to host Peach Co in another heavyweight region showdown starting next Wednesday in Forsyth while Pike Co currently sits at 4-16 overall; 3-3 in region play and will host Jackson in a region tilt next Tuesday.
