Warner Robins-Houston County rivalry through the years

The Houston County Bears are getting prepped to host county rival Warner Robins this Friday at Freedom Field and it will be the 27th time that these two will have faced-off. The Demons lead the series all-time at 17-8-1 but the Black, Silver, and White have won the last two matchups.

The first battle between the Demons and Bears was back in 1998 when the Cardinal, Black, and White narrowly won 25-24. HoCo’s first victory came in 2001 when they defeated Warner Robins 13-7 in a low-scoring contest.

These two would have five more of these kinds of battles and they would happen in 2002 when the Demons won 3-0, 2004 when both played to a 7-7 tie, 2005 when the Demons won 14-7, 2006 when the Demons won 10-9, and 2010 when the Bears won 7-3. The 2004 tie is to this date the only tie in Houston County Bears Varsity Football history.

Warner Robins’ largest victory ever over HoCo is a 49-0 shutout victory in 2009 and the Bears’ largest victory over the Demons is a 63-28 victory in 2016. The last time a HoCo-WR contest ended within 8 points or less was back in 2013 when the Black, Silver, and White won 27-23.

This Friday’s contest looks likely to be played in the rain so ball security will be a big key for both teams. Below are a couple of photos of the Bears’ and Demons’ battle from 2014 where HoCo won 62-30 after leading 28-23 at halftime.
