HoCo uses turnovers, firepower to down Demons

The Houston County Bears delivered a statement win Friday night at McConnell-Talbert Stadium, overpowering crosstown rival Warner Robins 48–14 to improve to 4–0 on the season.

The Bears controlled the game from the opening kick, never trailing as they put together a complete effort on offense, defense, and special teams.

Houston County’s defense was the story, forcing five interceptions — two of which were returned for touchdowns. Jeffery Thomas and the secondary proved relentless, making life difficult for Warner Robins quarterback Chandler Dyson throughout the night.

On the offensive side, the Bears struck early and often. Keirion Tate and Colin Anderson each found the end zone in the first quarter, while Westen Ard added two rushing touchdowns before the night was over. Quarterback Ryan Maxwell spread the ball around effectively, including connecting with Jeffery Thomas for a fourth-quarter score.

Special teams also played a key role. Kicker Harrison Ludwig drilled two field goals from 41 and 44 yards, providing extra insurance.

Warner Robins’ highlights came from Dyson, who connected with Peyton Zitterman on a 33-yard touchdown in the second quarter and later found CJ Gunnings for a 40-yard strike. But the Demons couldn’t overcome turnovers, falling behind 24–7 at halftime and watching Houston County extend the lead to 38–7 by the third quarter.

The Bears’ dominance never wavered, and the game ended with a final score of 48–14.

With the victory, Houston County remains undefeated heading into a Week 5 home matchup against Tift County.  Warner Robins  (2-2) has an open week before facing off with Veterans on September 19th.
