HoCo shuts out Northside to open region play

The HoCo Bears opened region play at home against county and region rival Northside earlier tonight and the result was a 10-0 Black, Silver, and White shutout victory in six innings. The Bears got the scoring started in the last of the first when Logan Elbe hit a two-rbi double to drive in Isaiah Galason and Ethan Buffone to make the score 2-0. Noah Odom hit an rbi single to drive in Logan Elbe to push the score to 3-0 HoCo.

The host added four more runs throughout innings two through five and in the last of the sixth, Noah Odom hit an rbi single to drive in Isaiah Galason to make the score 8-0 and Ethan Kenney would hit a two-rbi single to drive in Ethan Buffone and Logan Elbe to make the final score 10-0 Bears in six innings.

Logan Elble, Noah Odom, and Ethan Kenney each led HoCo in rbis with two followed by Kendall Jackson and Vick Gann with one a piece. Bears’ SP Tucker Hale pitched for four innings, surrendering no runs on one hit, walking three, and striking out eight in the process while reliever Ethan Kenney pitched the remaining two innings and surrendered no runs on one hit, walking one, and striking out three in the process.

Eagles’ pitchers Taylor Hall and Jehibar Vivas combined to allow 10 runs (two earned) on five hits, walking five, and striking out four in the process. HoCo improves to 8-3 overall; 1-0 in region play while Northside falls to 3-5 overall; 0-1 in region play and these two will meet for a doubleheader at Northside on Friday.
