Panthers sloppy in blowout victory over Luella

The Perry Panthers hosted the Luella Lions out of Henry Co earlier tonight and the result was a sloppy Maroon, Gold, and White victory 15-5 in five innings. The Lions plated the game’s first 4 runs in the top half of the first before Perry responded with 5 runs in the last of the first highlighted by Cullen McDaniel’s go-ahead two-rbi single.

The Panthers would outscore Luella 10-1 in the next four innings to win 15-5 in five. Seven of the host’s fifteen runs came via a bases rounding walk or a bases rounding hit by pitch which would be how Perry would score it’s last five runs of the contest. Reid Ginn, Jonathan Kohlman, and Cullen McDaniel each led the Maroon, Gold, and White in rbis with three a piece followed by Nate Sullivan with two.

SP Jonathan Kohlman pitched all five innings surrendering five unearned runs on three hits, walking three, and striking out six in the process. The Panthers committed seven errors in the contest and they have had trouble with surrendering unearned runs and they must improve in these two areas if they want to find success the remainder of the season especially with region play beginning next week.

Perry improves to 3-4 on the season and will travel to rematch Luella in Henry Co on Wednesday Night.
