Bulldogs run rule Union Grove, Eagles down Lancers, Demons fall to Ola

The Mary Persons Bulldogs hosted the undefeated Union Grove Wolverines earlier this evening and the result was a Bulldogs victory 11-1 in five innings behind Jake Gore’s two home runs. The Black, Gold, and White plated two runs in the first, six in the second, and three in the third while the Wolverines plated a run in the top of the fourth inning.

MP SP Cole Carr surrendered one earned run on one hit, walking two, and striking out five in four innings of work while his reliever Ian Lewis surrendered no runs on no hits, walking none, and striking out none in one inning of relief work. Jake Gore led the Bulldogs in rbis with six followed by Ryan Causey with three, and Tristan Hunt and Wiley Smith with one each. Kane Moye had Union Grove’s lone rbi of the contest.

The Wolverines’ pitchers combined to allow 11 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits, walking one, and striking out seven in the process. Mary Persons improves to 5-4 overall and will travel to Macon to play Howard on Thursday at 4pm while Union Grove falls to 7-1 overall and will take on Grayson at Georgia State University on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the Northside Eagles hosted the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers and the result was an 8-2 Eagles’ victory. The Blue, White, and Orange plated two runs in innings one, two, five, and six, while CFCA plated two runs in inning three. Six Eagles recorded an rbi in this evening’s win.

Northside’s pitchers combined to allow two unearned runs on four hits, walking six, and striking out 16 in the process while the Lancers’ pitchers combined to allow eight runs (six earned) on eight hits, walking seven, and striking out seven in the process. The Blue, White, and Orange improve to 4-5 overall and will get ready to open region play against county rival Houston County either tomorrow or Wednesday.

CFCA had four errors while Northside had three and the Eagles have more wins through nine games than in all of last season combined. Warner Robins traveled to Henry Co to play Ola and they lost 8-1 to be three game swept by the Mustangs. The Demons fall to 4-4 overall; 0-3 in region play and is scheduled to host Locust Grove tomorrow at 5:55pm.
